In 2010, Miche launched a new line of shells called Hope. With messages of Hope, Laugh, Love, Live, Courage and quotes from individual cancer survivors as inspiration, these shells have been rendered in a wide range of colors and styles. Proceeds are donated from the sale of every Hope Shell or Charmer to fight for a cure to cancer. In just 2 years, Miche has now donated over $2 million dollars to fund research for a cure and to end this disease.

Miche and Me About Town ~ Demi Hope Blue and a Padre Game!

Miche Demi Hope (Blue) and I took in a Padre game this week – and it was fabulous!

We arrived down town well before the game began, and enjoyed strolling through the Gas Lamp District. Above, you will see a shot from a pedestrian bridge arching over the street in front of the stadium. Demi Hope (Blue) was looking her cheerful best, with a single handle of the Miche silver interchangeable handles with the black strap, to carry her hobo-style. A Kat’s Kreations purse charm completes the look.

At first, I chose the Hope Blue to join me simply because she is blue – close enough to Padre blue – and what better message than one of Hope and Joy to take to a baseball game? But as I watched the team take the field, I was struck by what a very long journey they have traveled this season of adversity.

Plagued with injuries, financial set backs and instability, a messy divorce, loss of experienced players, and a seemingly endless string of lost games, this Padres team faced virtually universal disrespect from fans and pundits alike, as well as other teams around the league. Inexperienced, out of their depth, some thought out of their league, this group of players, many of them rookies called up from the minors, came together as a real team. We saw many firsts this season. First Major League game, 1st hit, 1st strike out, 1st win.

Truly grateful to have the chance to play Major League ball, we saw players loving every moment of the game. They even seemed to enjoy their blunders, for they came up smiling – and learned the lesson. For the love of the game and the joy in the opportunity to play it, they truly melded as a team, and came roaring out of last place to begin playing the most exciting baseball in the Major Leagues. Youngsters no one had ever heard from started making the highlight reels night after night. And they began winning. And winning some more. And yes, they won the night Demi Hope and I were there, in their 2nd game of a 3 game sweep of the Saint Louis Cardinals – last year’s champions.

It was a wonderfully fun night at the ball park, and a terrific reminder as well. Love what you do, do it to the very best of your abilities, ignore the nay sayers, and be grateful for your blessings. Play the game right, and good things will happen! :)

Fall 2012 ~ Fun and Fabulous w/ Miche Bags and Accessories!

Miche bags are my favorite fashion accessory (big surprise!) for many reasons. I love the way one purse can quickly and easily be changed to a completely different look and style by changing the outer “shells”. This enables me to keep my one purse organized – never at a loss for which purse has my checkbook! – but always stay stylish by complimenting or providing an accent to my outfit. And I love playing with the different looks this one fashion accessory can give me. Not just the interchangeable shells, but all of the ways to customize by using different handles, incorporating charms, etc. In this post, we are going to look at some of the many looks of the Cinderella-sized Miche bag – the Demi.

Miche Demi Joella (top) playful and on trend with a bold print and vivid red accents. We will see a lot of both this fall season. Miche Demi Myranda (above) is more quietly sophisticated, with marbled faux leather in plum tones and heavy pleating details. The same purse – totally different looks!

Miche Demi Tina (right) perfectly illustrates my point about using your accessories to keep your look fresh and current, while staying true to your own best look and style. The Interchangeable Handles bring the customizability of the Miche Bags to a whole new level. First, there are 3 handles sets. You can select the silver chains set, which comes with a set of 2 supple, subtly textured black strap handles and a set of 2 croc textured rich brown strap handles, and 4 silver chains. The chains attach to each end of the strap, and then to the bag, either 2 handles or one, as you prefer. The set of silver chains, with the brown and black straps is $24.95, and offers tremendous options in styling your current Miche bags, and those that are new that you will soon be purchasing. This is the ultimate in customizability - the 2 black straps, the 2 croc textured brown straps, 4 silver chains, 4 antique brass chains all for $39.95. The combined length of one of these chain handles is 26.5 inches, with a handle drop of 12.5 inches. The straps are .75 inch wide. These handles are truly upscale in appearance and feel.

Miche Bags ~ An Insider’s tips for a well-dressed Miche Bag!

The Miche Bag is all about Endless Possibilities for each and every purse ~ and every woman. I am going to show you how and when I use pockets, fashion handles, charms and more to create a look for my Miche Bag that is both polished and my own. The Miche Pockets for the flat-sided Classic shells (pockets available in both black and brown) are the unsung fashion accessory of the Miche Bag line. Simply slide the pocket onto the Classic Base before adding a flat-sided shell for extra storage and a streamlined appearance. Some women love the style and look of the flat-sided, fold over shells, but refuse to consider them. They want and need the additional storage provided by the built-in end pockets provided by the pull on style as demonstrated by Miche Classic Kandace below: I love the way this style of pull on shell completely changes the silhouette of the entire bag, but Miche has created pockets that add storage while retaining the sleek lines of the fold-over shells. This also gives a more polished look to the ends of the bag as demonstrated with Miche Classic Cinthia below. On the left, Miche Classic Cinthia without the pocket. On the right, see the end closed in with the black pocket.

Gathered faux leather covers the open end of the purse, adding a pocket to each side to fit a cell phone, calculator, compact, lipstick, etc. To order your Miche Pockets in black or brown, click here. I always use the pockets with any open-sided, fold over Classic shell, for the finished look it gives as well as the extra storage.

I know I have gone on (and on) about my love for the Miche Rope Handles in black and pewter. The Miche Black Rope Handles are back in stock and available to order in my Online Store! I think they add a level of refinement and sophistication to every sized Miche Bag and nearly every shell.

For the Petite, I think the Miche Rope Handle is not out of scale, and changes the feel from perhaps a little girl’s purse, to a chic purse a woman would carry. See Miche Petite Skylar right with the black rope handle.

Maybe I am just harder on my purse than many, but I find the slender handle that comes with the Miche Petite Base feels a bit fragile for every day use. With the Miche Rope Handle, the Miche Petite and I are great friends for busy day trips or a night on the town.

For the Miche Classic Bag, I find the rope handles turn a strictly hand-bag into a stylish purse that fits comfortably over my shoulder. At the same time, they enhance the style of the bag. I think they are the only embellishment needed to make the oh-so-elegant Elizabeth or the flirty Cinthia look their very, very best.

(Each of these Classics shown below has the pockets added.)

On the left, Miche Classic Elizabeth is even more beautiful with her black floral detailing set off by the Miche Black Rope Handles. To the right, Miche Classic Cinthia’s silver tones are beautifully echoed by the Miche Rope Handles in Pewter. You can further play with the look and the length by creating a short chain of carabiner rings between the handles and the purse. On the right, I have used 3 1-inch carabiner rings at each end of the Black Rope Handles on Miche Classic Jasmine. To my eye, this adds a somewhat funky vibe that I feel compliments the exotic pattern of Jasmine. But I use just the Rope Handles with 1 carabiner ring for the more refined Elizabeth and Cinthia.

I think the Miche Chain Handles in black or brown add an edgier feel to any purse, and I love their look with the Miche Classic Hope Red (shown left).

Play with the different handle options to see which combination you like best. For instance, should the silver tones of Miche Demi Kinsley be matched or contrasted by the rope handle?

Pairing Miche Demi Kinsley with the Rope Handles in Pewter (right) is a very elegant combination.

Below, contrasting Miche Demi Kinsley with the Black Rope Handles is an edgier look.

I would probably add a different purse charm to Kinsley depending upon the handle I chose to accessorize the shell with. I would select Miche purse charmer Taffy in white to go with the silver handle. And probably a darker colored charm with contrasting colors when using the black.

For myself, I do not add a purse charm to a bag that is rich in detail like the four Classic shells shown above. I feel it would be gilding the lily, and the ruffles or the ornate pattern of the purse would not be enhanced by the addition of a purse charm.

I do like to add some bling to the more tailored styles like the Kinsley above or to Miche Demi Margaret shown right with Miche charmer Taffy. I do have retired Miche Demi shell Margaret available to order in my personal inventory! Just contact me to order Miche Demi Margaret!

When I use the Miche Rope Handles with the Demi size Miche Bag, I like to use it as a single handle to further add to the hobo style of the line of the bag. I also use two carabiner rings at each end of the rope handle to ensure the rope lies flat. I use a 1.5 inch carabiner ring attached to the purse, and a 1 inch ring to link it to the handle. I like the proportions and added detail this reduction in scale gives to the look of the bag. I do have retired Miche Demi shell Margaret available to order!
