September 2012 Miche Luxe Line ~ Insider’s Review & Details!

I will always love the traditional Miche style bags and shells. Forever! But I do so enjoy the new Miche Luxe line shells, too! I like having a truly high end option that is just as versatile and interchangeable as any other Miche look.

The Miche Luxe collection is fabulous, but you may now know just how fabulous from the information Miche has published. If you are looking at the shells of the Lucerne/Annecy/Marseille series or the Prima Quincy, read on for alllllll the details! Let’s take a closer look at Miche Luxe shells Lucerne, Annecy and Marseille:

Luxe shells Lucerne, Annecy and Marseille Color:

The first thing you need to know about the Luxe Classic Lucerne, Demi Annecy and Prima Marseille is that they are definitely a darker grey than they appear in some photos.

They are not the very pale, pearl grey they appear in certain lighting on product pages and images like the one to the right. The color of the bags in the images above is much closer to the true color. They are a deep, rich, chrome grey that is set off beautifully by the grommets and studs in brass, silver and dark pewter. For some reason, I had thought the lavish bling might somehow catch on my clothing or something. I was quite wrong. The large grommets and extreme studs are beautifully finished, and the edges are perfectly flush to the super soft faux leather. The quality is impeccable.

Luxe shells Annecy and Marseille Shoulder strap:

Now we need to discuss the fully embellished shoulder strap that comes with the Luxe Demi Annecy and the Luxe Prima Marseille. This large strap is in addition to the two rolled handles in the matching chrome grey faux leather. I love this feature that gives you 2 ways to carry your bag – both with a lot of style!

As you can see in the picture left, (which also shows the true color well) this strap is quite wide. I find it fits comfortably on my shoulder, but a friend with more narrow shoulders feels it tends to slide off for her. It is long enough to carry cross-body, messenger bag style if you choose.

The Luxe shells Annecy and Marseille strap connection:

The way the strap connects to the back is with a very dark, oval-shaped clasp on a swivel. The swivel is excellent, because you can always have the “right side” of the strap facing outward. Both sides look gorgeous, but the high profile of the studs, perhaps 1/3 of an inch high, are flattened on the reverse side.

The swivel feature and the look of the clasp are wonderful. The style is exceptional. The strength of connection is excellent. However – it is quite challenging to get the small opening of the oval clasp through both the base bag and the Luxe shell properly.

Perhaps with practice, it can be worked in a reasonable length of time, but it is frustrating. And gorgeous as this shell is, you will still want to exchange it for others in your collection. I think this solution shown left is a good one. By first attaching a silver 1-inch carabiner ring to the base bag and shell, and then attaching the clasp of the handle to the carabiner, you retain the style but also the ease of changing the shells.

You will find the solution that works best for you. I don’t think this should be a deterrant to owning and enjoying this lovely bag, but it is something I wanted you to know about.

Let’s take a closer look at Miche Luxe Prima Quincy:

I love bling as much as the next girl, but I do believe that the chic and elegant Prima Quincy is my favorite of the entire Miche Luxe line. The rich, cofee bean color, the extravagant strap detailing, the croc texture to the super soft faux leather are all perfectly highlighted by the antique brass hardware used throughout the styling.

Here you can see a close view of the wonderful texture layering that makes the Luxe Prima Quincy such a standout. Straps run vertically across the bag at each end, and are intertwined with a slender belt that wraps twice around the bag. The belt buckle, rings, brads and rivet detailed name plate in antique brass gleam against the rich dark shell.

The heavily twisted handles are beautiful, but I was concerned they might be bulky, and uncomfortable to carry. I was completely wrong. The soft faux leather and perfect scale makes these handles very comfortable to carry by hand or over my shoulder. They are not quite long enough to pass the “elbow test” (where you move your purse handle from your hand to your shoulder by passing your elbow through the opening all in one motion). The handles just miss the length to do this easily, but she looks fabulous and feels very comfortable worn on the shoulder or carried by hand.

OK, the lighting was poor when I took this photo, but it clearly shows the important part of the design I want to show you. The back of this bag is every bit as embellished and beautifully deigned as the front! The vertical straps at either end of the bag present on the front are also repeated on the back. This is an element of detail that is very important to me. I want to look great coming or going, and I feel that my garments and accessories should as well. Like the rest of the Miche Luxe line, Prima Quincy certainly earns the “Luxe” label, the high-end distinction with the quality of craftsmanship, materials used, and the full attention to all details from every angle that go into making this bag such a stunner.

With so much stressing of the limited quantities, some customers, as well as some representatives, have become a bit panicked about the possibility of these shells selling out over the weekend. Corporate has now assured us they feel they have ordered enough that most of the shells should last the month of September. They also encourage us to ensure that all parties and orders for these beauties are planned for the first half of the month so no customers are disappointed.

So what to make of this somewhat conflicting information? I no longer think there is a danger of these shells selling out the first weekend. Corporate had taken a long look at the quick sell outs we have had this year, as well as all of the buzz around the new Luxe line before making this announcement.

But I would suggest that if you have made your decision – don’t wait to place your order. And I think it wise to plan to order your favorite(s) before the middle of the month.

Miche Luxe Almost Here! Classic Base Sale + Free Purse Charm!

The Miche Luxe line is almost here! Are you excited? Are you ready?

I am hearing from many of you how excited you are about the new Miche Luxe shells, and the plans you are making to ensure you will get your favorite(s) before they sell out. For the ladies in St. Paul MN planning to stake out the opening of your local Starbucks and jump into lattes and online to place your orders – I love the spirit! For those who are planning to watch round the clock with friends in shifts for the first availability – team work is beautiful! For those who are placing pre-orders with me, so you are assured of getting your favorites, but keeping your schedule – or late sleep – sane, I admire the practicality!

The newest Miche Luxe line to be released September 1st, 2012, is generating a lot of buzz! Fearless is Beautiful! Meet the Miche Madison Inspiration!

The designer for the Miche bag shells is a marvel to me, and she has shared her moving inspiration behind the new Fearless line Miche Demi Madison.

Jennie Platt is the design genius behind the many, many styles and designs of the Miche bag shells. Many of us find the latest Miche line, Fearless, truly speaks to us in our own lives and the challenges we face. Today, Jennie tells the story of her inspiration for the chic new Demi Madison.

“Madison is the daughter of one of our Representatives and she definitely defines “fearless.” Madison wanted nothing more than to be a dancer, so she practiced and performed and took hours and hours of classes. In her early teens she started getting sick, and the doctors didn’t know what was wrong with her. All of her nerve endings were in pain, her vision started getting blurry and she could barely walk. Yet through it all she would still go to dance practice, even if only to watch. As her pain got worse she would suffer violent convulsions and was eventually restricted to a wheelchair. After months and months of doctors’ visits she was finally diagnosed with Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy—her blood flow was restricted to her nerves and they constantly sent pain messages. The only treatment was intense physical therapy to “work through the pain.”

Well Madison went to work—and work she did. Five hours a day. Madison was probably afraid, but she never let that stop her; her determination paid off and over time she danced again! In fact, she performed in this year’s National Dance Competition.

This young lady truly is fearless, and her story inspired us to create the unique—yet sophisticated—Madison Shell.

Like Madison, each of you is great beyond belief, and hopefully you know it. There will always be naysayers and your own fears that say, “You can’t do it”, but you owe it to yourself to be fearless. Fearless in life’s challenges and obstacles. Fearless in love and adventure. Fearless in fashion and style. Fearless in being who you are.” – Jennie Platt

What an amazing story! I will remember this and find inspiration in it as I face my own challenges. Will you do the same? Let’s take a closer look at the beautiful shell this story of strength and determination inspired:

The colors used in the Demi Madison were drawn from the dusty sand dunes of the Sahara Desert and the deepest blue of a clear midnight sky – rugged, defiant and clear all at once. The burnt caramel faux leather is a perfect contrast for that deep, deep blue. The strap detailing across the front, linked with antique brass, flaunts rather than confines the unique energy of the Madison shell.

In the close up, to the right, you can see the lovely marbled texture of both the blue and the caramel colored faux leather. The feel of this bag is super soft, and the look is so ”together”, so utterly ready-for-anything! Having read the story of Madison’s journey through pain and adversity and on into strength and beauty, I can see the inspiration brought to life in this shell.

Demi Briella features a rich, Persian orange faux leather subtly textured, and contrasted with black stitching. Gentle gathers and end pockets give a lovely, soft shape to this bag. The antique brass name plate would lead me to use the antique brass carabiner rings with the straps shown, or the Black Rope Handles for a dressier look.

I love the way my Miche bag allows me to change styles quickly, easily and affordably! The most functional of all fashion accessories has now become so adaptable to every fashion situation. With it’s many interchangeable shells, the style is so flexible, that I feel ready for anything! Miche Prima Tereasa shown above is one of my favorite shells, adding color, a dash of daring yet remaining sophisticated and chic. Very versatile and always outstanding.

I think fashion is often about the unexpected combination of items that look great together. You would expect to see this lovely, elegant top paired with a flowing skirt. Soft contours and texture paired with soft contours always works, but is not really so fashion forward. I prefer the more unanticipated pairing of the soft, elegant top paired with the harder edged, distressed jeans. They look great together, but also express more individuality of style and personality – the unexpected. Miche Prima Lexi is a bold pop of color and adds a slightly funky note to bring this look together and make it look not just stylish, but my style. We’ll discuss these ideas in greater depth in a future post.

With the latest Miche bag with the Urban shell, Prima Sienna, you can carry everything you need to take on the world! Or at least, a busy day. With the added functionality of easily changing into a chic backpack, Sienna does it all! Two discreet loops found at the bottom of the back of the shell allow you to attach the 2 handles that came with your Prima base bag and you can wear her like a backpack. For a super cute, short-term wearing option, use the Black or Brown Chain Handles. But for serious comfort and long treks, I recommend the Adjustable Shoulder Strap available in brown or black, and currently on sale!
